A conceptual opening title sequence for The Sandman television series, based on the DC/Vertigo comics. This internal portfolio project explores sophisticated, thematic motion design, visual storytelling and mood-setting.
The sequence sets the tone of the series, a dark fantasy journey through the realms of myth, nightmare and literature. The design system uses ancient artefacts, shifting reality and gothic, celestial iconography to represent Dream’s complex world.
The video shows a completed title sequence, including key card reveals and the main title lockup.
The personal challenge here was exploring Cinema 4D’s particle system while fulfilling the opening title brief, and bringing out the solitary, melancholic tone of the show.
